I'm scared: my husband has grade 4 prostate cancer

My husband has grade 4 prostate cancer,he is on his 3rd hormone injection and he is extremely tired,he does not seem to have any energy at all.

He also had a heart attack in February and a triple heart bypass,so his treatment for finding out if he had cancer was delayed. He has radiotherapy after his last injection, but im scared is this curable or will he have just a few years, I don't know who else to ask.

Thankyou for your time x

  • Hi Re06mte,

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's grade 4 prostate cancer diagnosis and that he is extremely tired and has no energy. It must be so hard for you. Poor him going through prostate cancer just a few months after having a heart attack and a triple heart bypass and having had his cancer tests and treatments delayed as a result.

I hope that his radiotherapy treatment  goes well and I also wanted to wish him the best of luck for the final injection of his hormone therapy treatment. It's difficult - and often impossible - to have accurate estimates when it comes to prognosis but the best person to ask would be your husband's oncologist or medical team. They will have all the details about your husband's cancer as well as all his medical history and will be able to tell you more I am sure. So don't hesitate to ask them and to have this conversation with them.

Our cancer nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - you can get in touch with them Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a call and talk things through with them at any point.

You have come to the right place too to meet others who have been affected by Grade 4 prostate cancer as it helps sometimes to hear from the experiences of others who have been through something similar whether they have or have had prostate cancer themselves or have looked after a loved one who had the same diagnosis as your husband. Hopefully they will drop by and say hello and share their story with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thankyou Lucie,

I do not want to ask his consultant/ nurse as he is with me and I.do not want him to know I have asked.

  • Hi.

My husband also has stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread to seminal vestibules. He's had 2 hormone injections and is having radiotherapy for prostate and for surrounding lymph nodes.

He's also suffering fatigue and now some bladder and bowel irritation from radiotherapy.

You're not alone lovely. It's hard sometimes to realise that. Hope you're okay and everything progressing well.

If you want to private message me please do.x

Thankyou for the reply, its nice to think im not alone in this,my 85 year old dad lives with me too,and he has many health problems.

My husband starts his radiotherapy in four weeks, he is 57 nearly ,do you mind me asking how old your husband is?,doesn't really matter as all ages its just unfair,it would be nice to keep in touch, does your husband have anyone to talk to,as my husband i know would message him as they would not feel alone ,
