Hogkins Lymphoma

Hello, my Sister has just been diagnosed after over a month in hospital with Hodgkins Lymphoma. She is 34 and has Down Syndrome. She doesn’t understand why she is ill and needs reassurance. Our father has recently died from lung cancer that went to the brain and we are still in morning even though I am trying my best to put that to the back of my mind, I am finding it extremely hard to keep a brave face and not show her I am worried. Does anyone have any words of reassurance or advice please

  • Hi Elsbells2025,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you have been through a lot as a family recently and this must be a lot to process.

I'm sure you're doing a good job of showing the support that you want to to your sister. I imagine this must be taking a bit of a toll on you as well and so it's important that you're able to get some support too - as well as the opportunity to continue mourning for your father in the way that you want to.

Keep speaking to others around you where possible, as it helps to talk. And I hope this forum can be a small source of help to you. We're always here whenever you may need it, and it can be helpful to write things down and reach out to others.

My reply here will give your post a little boost, so hopefully you'll get more replies from others on the forum.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
