  • Hello Mcpar

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with caring for your husband and that you feel there has been a lack of support from the doctor.

You mentioned in your post that you have one daughter here and that your other children live in Ireland. Are your children able to contact your husband's doctor to advocate for the help and support you need? Or maybe there is another family member or close friend who can help you to talk again with the GP surgery and explain that you need support. Perhaps contacting the practice manager at the surgery would be a good place to start.

We have some information on our website about taking care of yourself when caring for a loved one. If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays). I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

I hope that you can access the support that you and your husband need Mcpar. Keep in touch with the Cancer Chat community if it helps to have somewhere safe to put down in writing how you're feeling. We're here for you.

My best wishes to you both,
