Open cancer tumour

Hello all, this is my first post.

my husband was diagnosed suddenly and unexpectedly with a rare and aggressive form of squamous cell carcinoma that appeared on his eyebrow as a golf ball sized lump this time last year.
he had it removed under local as no one thought it was cancer. Biopsy showed it was.
since then my husband has not wanted to engage in any treatment at all. He won’t even see our GP now.

where his scar is an open tumour has broken through.
he’s given consent for me to contact the doctor and I have a barrier cream prescribed for him but atm he won’t even use that.
I spoke to our GP last week, who is lovely and referring me to our local hospice for support but I don’t know how long that will take etc.

just wondered if anyone can suggest some support?
Thanks all x

  • Hi Nichola

Ive had a hard lump SCC like this on my forehead 10 years ago it was removed but not before it had become an open sore. It required radiotherapy after surgery to try kill off the remaining cancer cells. This was not successful and over the years Ive had many more occurrences. Including metastatic SCC of salivary gland and now metastasis to the bones. I am on palliative care with cemipulab immunotherapy.

Do all you can to persuade him to continue treatment as this disease can be life threatening in the long term if not treated but kept at bay with a reasonable quality of life with good care.

Wishing you all the best in getting your husband treated.
