Best friend diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi, My best friend was diagnosed to have breast cancer two years ago.

And now she is admitted to the hospital with severe back pain and lump on her breast.

She has the ct scan and doctors are not happy with the result. They think that the cancer is back.

Im her only close friend and I just had my divorce. and suffering from severe anxiety and depression.

im so scared of her condition at the moment. she had 13 year old daughter.

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat forum Bmoses although I'm very sorry to hear your best friend's cancer may have returned.

This must be a very difficult time for you both, especially with what has happened in your personal life and how it has affected your mental health. I hope you are receiving the proper care and support to help you manage your anxiety and depression but if you haven't spoken to anyone about this yet, please do, as there are so many people and places that you can reach out to who will do all that they can to help you.

Supporting someone on a cancer journey can be very tough, even more so when you are struggling yourself, but I hope this information we have for family, friends and caregivers will prove useful. You and your best friend may also be able to receive further support and advice from Maggie's. I'm not sure if you have come across them before but they are a cancer charity that provide free expert care and support online and in centres across the UK to anyone that has been affected by cancer, so do get in touch with them to see how they can help you both at this time.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to offer their thoughts and advice to you as well but in the meantime, our thoughts are with you Bmoses and we're sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
