At last a Diagnosis

My 76 year old husband after 15 months of investigations and remission has finally been diagnosed with T Cell Angioimmunoblastic Lymphoma. The week before that he was also diagnosed with Vascular Dementia due to his poor heart function following two heart attacks almost 20 years ago. He is too frail for the full blown Chemo regime so is currently having Cyclophosphomide tablets at home once each week, (he’s had three doses) and 60 mg Prednisolone five days each week.
Due to his Dementia and no PoA in place he’s considered to be an Adult with Incapacity so his consent to treatment is outwith our control.
His Lymphoma symptoms began a few days after his first Covid jab, and after months of ill health trailing him to one specialist to another, a year later he was told he had Polymyalgia Rheumatica and was treated immediately with high dose steroids which brought about an amazing improvement. His Haematologist is of the opinion that PMR was never the problem, it’s been Lymphoma all along.
That’s it really, I think his chemo is palliative, and given his deteriorating Dementia I don’t think the Doctors could do anything differently at this late stage.
There are blessings though, he’s not in any pain, he doesn’t remember he has Cancer, he’s very affectionate, and he’s so grateful for every little thing I do for him.

  • Hi MRS-PS,

thank you for your kind words, I’m not sure I was really expecting any replies, I was just off loading a bit, as that helps me a lot.
