Immunotherapy treatment for glioblastroma brain cancer - urgent question

Hello, my sister was diagnosed with Glioblastroma high grade (4) last year. The operation was done for the removal and the. Radiotherapy and chemo has been going on for 7 months. We have done an MRI last week and found out that there is another occurrence of the same giloma in the brain. Chemotherapy hasn’t been effective. Someone has suggested immunotherapy however my sister is now in a very fragile state with considerably low platelets after chemo. Can someone advise what are the recovery success rates with treatments like immunotherapy or oncolytic virus therapy. Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks and kind regards, W

  • Hello Waqasm

I'm sorry to hear about your sister's diagnosis and that the recent MRI she has had has shown that there is regrowth of the glioma. It's understandable that this is a difficult time for you all.

It's really difficult for us to comment on how successful any treatment may be as there are so many different variables involved in each individual situation. Please do speak with her healthcare team about your concerns and the possibility of any other treatment options. They will have the best overview of your sister's current health and what if any, options are available for her.

If you'd like to talk with one of our nurses for some advice and support you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
