My wife's Myeloma diagnosis

Struggling to cope with looking after my 66 year old wife of 46 years.. Recently started her chemo treatment, 16 weeks of it then a stem cell transplant after. She's so weak and can't do the most simple things (lifting the milk out of the fridge for example!!).. I'm 71 and just find the stress and physicality of doing everything around the house etc really hard!!

  • Hi Davew,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your wife - this sounds incredibly difficult and I can understand it must be tough on you as well.

It might be worth talking things through with your wife's doctor, to see if they have any suggestions in terms of additional support.

It may also be helpful to give Macmillan a call, as they will also be able to advise in this area.

If you'd like to speak to one of our nurses, you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5 (excluding Christmas Eve and bank holidays).

We are always here if you need it, and I hope you find the forum useful.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
