Hi, my wife has AML and had 3 lots of sepsis out of the 4 cycles of chemo she had. It's so difficult because we thought she'd most likely get infections from other people eg chest infections. However it was things like kidney infections, hickman lime infections etc that you don't get passed on. I think you take the precautions you can of washing hands, limiting contacts and not seeing people who are unwell but otherwise it's a bit of pot luck unfortunately I think. I hope your mum is doing as OK as can be. Unfortunately the neutrophils just take the time they take to recover but her clinical team will guide her.
