Liver cancer

My mum has stage 4 liver cancer which was diagnosed back in May.
there is nothing they could really do but doesn’t want any intervention.
she has been having really bad bouts of diarrhoea which lasts for hours and at times doesn’t even realise she wants to go.
Is this what happens towards end of life please?

thank you

  • Hello Kimbolina22

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. Undoubtedly this is a difficult time for you both and understandable that you may have questions. Does your Mum have input from the local hospice or palliative care team? Do talk with them about the diarrhoea that she's been dealing with. It may be that there is something they can offer to help improve things for her. Alternatively, you can contact her GP for advice and support with her symptoms.

We have some information on our website about coping with cancer that you may find helpful to read through but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that your Mum, and you, are able to access support to help you both through this difficult time.

Sending you both my best wishes,
