Dad starting mini r-chop treatment soon - would like to get him some things to help

Hi all, my Dad is starting mini r-chop treatment this week and would like to get him some things that might come in handy and help be prepared. Does anyone have any suggestions of what was useful or helped you or someone you know get through it all. We know there is a lot of unknowns so appreciate any tips. Thanks all and hope your doing okay where ever you are on your journey or journey of support x

  • Hello Kerry321,
It sounds like you’re doing an amazing job supporting your dad through this.
Many people find that comfort items, like soft blankets, cosy socks, or a favourite pillow, can help make long treatment sessions a little more pleasant. Perhaps a good water bottle or some herbal teas might encourage him to stay hydrated too. Some people also like to bring along entertainment, like books, puzzles, or perhaps a tablet with movies or audiobooks – anything that can provide a bit of a mental escape can be helpful.
Some gentle, nourishing snacks might also come in handy, though it's worth seeing how he feels during treatment as appetites can sometimes vary.
Hopefully, others who have had similar experiences will come along shortly to offer advice. That being said, if you feel like asking some questions to our team of nurses, they'd be happy to talk things over with you Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.
    I hope this helps.
Best wishes to you and your dad.
