Hi I am new my husband has mouth cancer.

Hello all it's nice that we have a place where we can all support each other.

My husband is having surgery on 13 November. The nurse said but soups yogurt ice-cream ect. Wandering if I go to oak house or Wiltshire farm foods what level of puree to get as the will need more nourishment than what tomato soup can provide.

He will be without his dentures for atleast 6weeks. He is having half bottom lip taken and part of the tip so chewing will be a no go. Can U advise please?

Thank you so much.

Ps. I can't do much home cooking as I'm disabled and can't stand long he is my carer.

  • Wiltshire Farm do completely puréed meals.

Sorry about your husband's forthcoming operation and hope it and his recovery go well.

  • Hi Hayley

Your hospital will provide lots of information on nutrition and what to eat post surgery. Pureed meals are a good start and as Wiltshire Farm Foods can be delivered this must be a plus for you. Your hospital may provide high energy supplement liquid food like Fresubin that provide fibres and calories. Some of these milky ones are very thick but can be watered down with a bit of milk to make swallowing easier. Small frequent meals are better than large ones. Avoid acidy foods like oranges pineapple etc. Gelatin mousses custard etc are good for dessert and calories.

Hoping it all goes well for both of you.
