Advanced Prostate cancer

My husband was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in April 2022. Prior to his diagnosis he was apparently healthy. He has had a remarkable response to treatment and is currently extremely well.
I retired from the NHS after his diagnosis and we are spending good quality time doing things we want to do and spending precious time with family and friends. Because he is so well we decided not to ask about prognosis and live in the present. Up till now it’s worked well and we are quietly getting on with living.
The news about Sir Chris ahoy has completely devastated me. His condition sounds so similar to my husband’s and he’s only been given 2-4 years. Now I am completely obsessed with worrying about how long my husband may have left. When he’ll start to deteriorate, what alternative treatment options there might be etc. I feel as though the rug has just been pulled out from under us.

  • Hi Maisiem00,

I noticed you haven't had a reply to your post just yet so I just wanted to stop by to reassure you that your post has been seen.

This must be very difficult, but the Cancer Chat community are here for you and I'm sure some of our members will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

If it would help to talk things through with someone, do give our cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and address your worries and concerns.

I know we can't take the worry away Maisiem00 but I hope you can take some strength, and a small bit of comfort, from knowing that you are not alone.

    Kind regards,
