Hello my sister did me an activity bag, it contained magazine, books, colouring, a journal, pens, wet wipes, tissues. Crossword puzzle games. 

Also I don't know if he has tv in the hospital he's going in earplug or earphone, dressing gown, slippers 

Also the soft earplugs that you can get, absolute godsend for trying to sleep.  They dont cut out all the noise of the ward at night, but they do help.

When I had my op ,I had bought good earphones for iPad and downloaded things I was interested in . 
Maybe an eye mask as it’s always light in the rooms . Some lozenges to keep mouth moist if he can use them . Plenty of reading material and maybe a hand held fan too xx

I borrowed my daughters eye mask because the lights were so bright. Okay, it was a pink fluffy unicorn eye mask but I rocked it! (and it genuinely helped me too)
