Non small cell lung cancer

Just shocked and devastated to find out my partner has non small cell lung cancer. I can't really remember what the consultant said but it can't b operated on  might have spread to the liver but getting treatment and palliative care next as he's in hospital very poorly. I suffer from mental health and worried I won't be able to cope and be strong for him .x

  • Hello Tomaski

I'm so sorry to hear that your partner has been diagnosed with lung cancer and that he's so very unwell at the moment. Undoubtedly this is a very difficult time for you both.

It's understandable that you're concerned about how you will cope. Caring for a loved one when they have cancer can be difficult for anyone and given that you have your own health struggles as well, it's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

Do you have support with your mental health from your GP or a specialist? If so then I'd really encourage you to reach out and let them know what has happened and how you're feeling. If you don't have regular support then make an appointment with your GP next week to try and get some additional support in place to help you.

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses then you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice and information they can.

I do hope that you and your partner are able to spend some time together even though he is very poorly at the moment.

Keep in touch Tomaski and let us know how you're both doing.

Sending my best wishes to you and your partner,
