I have just had a mole removed from my foot that the Consultant thought was probably melanoma. 2 weeks appointment ahead for the result. The more I read the scarier it gets.
I think it is fairly recent and I think activated by a Calcaneous fracture on that foot that has caused skin on that area and calf to degrade - getting better 3 months later. The consultant dismissed that but never mind.
Most sites refer to a 5 year survival rate if it is caught early! Is that all. What does that mean? It sounds like you could die after 5 years!! So if the best scenario is that it is stage 0 and caught in time surely that doesn't mean I can live another 5 years and then might die! Another poster said that they wait 5 years and if you are ok it is probably gone?
Looking for reassurance as it is a bit scary.
