Hi.

Thank her for being so well organised.
My in laws both had severe dementia and were in care. It was a nightmare for my wife and her brother to manage as they had to go under the Court of Protection as they didn’t have lasting power of attorney. Their Dad was paranoid that his own family would “rob him blind” and he kept trying to take her home even though he could hardly walk and they were physically incapable of looking after each other.
All you can do is do your best to make her comfortable and out of pain.
Contact MacMillan and Marie Curie ( or your local equivalent) as soon as possible to get your Mum into the system to avoid a last minute rush if or when they are needed. Your GP will make the referrals.
Finally - remember to look after yourself on her emotionally draining care pathway. It is so easy to forget to do this.
Best wishes
Dave
