smoothies are great x nice and cold x
Any cream of soups are good. The more calories the better. If drinking tea coffee use full fat milk. Complan shakes are high in calories and protein, or you could get protein shakes from health/sport shops. Talk to McMillan nurse, you should be offered high protein/calorie drinks on prescription. I am now on jej feed as my oesophagus is now blocked but getting enough feed by pump. Hopefully things will improve as I start chemotherapy / immunotherapy tomorrow
Thank you for your reply , sorry to hear of your diagnosis. We go Thursday for ct result's and staging . I’m sure then we will have more information. Hope your treatment goes well , I’m Trish . Good luck
Good luck on Thursday. When you go, ask to see a McMillan nurse about diet.
Thank you . I will do
I survived for quite a while on homemade soups and smoothies.
You can blitz just about anything.
Peanut butter, full fat milk and banana sounds awful - but tasted great when I was on chemo and could hardly swallow.
Don’t blitz Brussel sprouts or broccoli though.
Hiya, my Dad is going through the same thing. Unfortunately he lost loads of weight which affected him having more Chemo. He went into hospital end of July and they fitted a stent so he could swallow. Unfortunately because of the rapid growth of the cancer he had just had another stent fitted which is helping him eat and swallow. It helps xx I hope you are ok xxx
Thank you so much for the advice . Good luck with your treatment
Thanks for your reply. It’s hard watching his face with all the doctors telling him things that aren’t nice to hear. I just hope my dad can get some relief , past month he’s had so many chest infections. I’ve read about stents, how’s your dad coping mentally? Xx
It is so hard and I feel everything is black & white as I’m the only family Dad has it feels like we are in this horrible bubble. I live 2 hours away from Dad so staying with him and trying to work from Dads. My Dad isn’t sleeping very well so he is just dropping off throughout the day. It’s like he has given up already, which I can’t blame him x stay strong xxx
