Hello. 
my mum was diagnosed with stage 4b esophagus cancer 6 weeks ago. We were told she has 6-12 months left to live (based on a scan taken in May). 

we've been told she cannot have chemo as she isnt physically strong enough (she also has learning difficulties), she isn't strong enough for surgery either and radiotherapy might be a palliative option but not yet. 
thankfully my mum hasn't taken on board what is going on but this has it's issues as she doesn't really tell us when she's feeling unwell. 
Recently she's been getting more and more confused, she barely eats and is so tired. 

she is in a care home as none of us family have the ability to look after her (young children, no downstairs toilets etc) and the care home are amazing. 

is anybody willing/ able ro share how they knew their loved one was declining? Or has anybody been in a similar position?  I'm petrified it's happening to her and I just want to know as much info as I can x
