Finding it hard to hide my emotions from my mam. Has anyone else experienced this?

Just been told my mam has advanced cancer .  Its terminal.  She doesnt know,   as she told Drs she doesn't want to lnow the results of her tests.  She knows she's unwell and somethings not right. She is deteriorating daily.   It's hard to hide my emotions and to act normal around her.

Has anyone experienced this?

  • Hello Docx and welcome to the forum.

I'm so sorry to hear your mum has advanced terminal cancer. This must be such a difficult time, especially when you're unable to talk to her about this, but I'm glad you've reached out to us as our community is filled with members who have been in this position so they will know what you're going through and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

If you can, do try and take some time to process through your emotions as it's very important that you take care of yourself at this time as well. I know that will be easier said than done, but our team of cancer nurses are on hand to listen and support you so if you'd like to talk things through with them, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Do keep posting if you find it helps Docx and remember, that you are not alone.

    Kind regards,
