No two cancers are the same so I can't speak for your brothers. But my brothers story is similar. He had a very large and noticeable lump on the central/side of his neck. He was told continuously that it wasn't cancer and he waited 12 months for removal. Turns out it was cancer as my brother had always said it was. As far as I can remember, I don't think he had to have any further treatment, just maybe check ups. I can't give any more help than that as my brother had terrible health anxiety, developed psychosis and took his own life shortly after. I do remember them saying he had nothing to worry about as it wasn't a 'bad' cancer. Hopefully your brother has a good outcome; such a worrying time for you all.
