Womb Cancer

My 52 year old daughter lives abroad and she has been diagnosed with probable cancer in the womb.  She has had a stomach CT scan which showed a mass up to her lungs.  She has now had a biopsy and PET scan and is waiting for the results to know what treatment they are going to give her.  She only told me this morning and I am so worried.  I can't fly out until I have the results because I can't stay indefinitely.  If she has to have chemo first there is no point in going because that will take weeks.  If she has an op then I will go to look after her.  I have just found this web site so I thought someone may have a similar experience and how they have dealt with.  I just keep crying.  My daughter and I are very close..We speak every day but she wouldn't tell me earlier because she didn't want to worry me.

  • Hello Val80

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's recent diagnosis of womb cancer. This is clearly a very worrying time for you made all the more difficult by the distance between the two of you.

It's good to hear that she has already had all the scans and tests necessary and that you are now in the process of waiting for the results so that the team looking after her can give their recommendation for treatment. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. It can sometimes help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that she doesn't have to wait too soon for further answers. Keep in touch Val80 and let us know how you're both doing.

    Best wishes,
