Husband suffering with Oesophageal cancer

Hello, my husband has been suffering with Oesophageal cancer for a year now… treatment is chemotherapy and immunotherapy -  he is living on protein shakes….finds it difficult to eat food. He now weighs 53 kgs was (78kgs), he is 69 nearly 70.  He has also had TB on top of his cancer and NHS has cancelled his ‘ immunotherapy’ - this week. We have had zero support from GP but really good support from the Community Nurses. Hospital consultant excellent too. We are very worried now as he has lower abdominal pain, hiccups, sleeps most of day/night, is exhausted and has very dark urine. Can we challenge treatment cancellation? Is there any other treatment available? Or is it palliative care. Any advice would be welcome.

  • Hello Sonny

I think I would be calling your community nurses for advice and support Also definitely contact consultant/cancer team for clarification of why treatment cancelled.

Do not be afraid to ask you need to know and your hubby needs the best support for his needs at every stage as do you

So call Macmillan helpline they are good too  For patients and carers

    Sending strength to you both
