Gall bladder Cancer

During routine gall bladder removal operation my mother got diagnosed with gall bladder cancer. It’s shocking for us as it was just simple key hole cholesystectomy and she was recovering well after operation. But the biopsy report suggested cancer. She has recently went through radical cholesystectomy which in itself is a massive operation and doctor has removed whatever cancer cells they could remove.  My mother is quite positive but again this  time also biopsy report is positive and doctor has suggested chemotherapy. Wonder if anyone has gone  through this and can suggest some feedback for its treatment. Thanks

  • Welcome to the forum Devi although I'm sorry to hear your mother has been diagnosed with gallbladder cancer.

This must have been very tough news to receive but it's good to hear they've removed as many cancer cells as they can, and that it will be followed up with chemo.

We have more information about treatment options for gallbladder cancer on our website but hopefully some of our members who have been on this journey will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

If you'd like to talk through the different types of treatment with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're really easy to talk to and will do all they can to answer your questions.

We are for you Devi and are sending all our support to you both.

    Kind regards,
