My mum has stage 4 cancer

I need some sort of advice my mum has stage 4 cancer and they have given her 12-18 month to live.. what do I say.. what do I do? 

Ia there anything else out there that could help prolong her life? I have just had a baby and I need my mum. She is so strong and brave about the whole situation usually I can keep ot together and be strong but this time I cannot how can I support and help her?

    Firstly - I am really sorry for what is happening at the minute. 

    In all honesty, the best thing to do is to change nothing. Keep talking how you did before, keep laughing the way you did, keep things as normal as you can do while you can because there will sadly be a time that it changes and neither you or your mum are going to want to have wasted any time wondering what to say to the other. In my family we were never big fans of saying 'I love you' so the one thing we did change, is that we said that a bit more. 

    Enjoy your time, make a memory box/book for baby, with your mum. Do it together so that baby will always have her in their life. 

    If there is anything that you can do to prolong her life, I am sure that the hospital will cover that? If you are unsure, ask them - never be afraid to ask any question that pops into your head.

    Hi 

    My mum has stage 4 bladder cancer matastasis.they are giving her a blast of radiotherapy then Immunotherapy. There is a drug that has better survival rate but it's not free on the NHS you have to pay for it and it's tens of thousands of pounds which is a joke and should be available to cancer patients as they know it works. They gave my mum worst case 12/18 months best case 5 years. I'm sorry to hear about your mum. It's heart breaking what type of cancer has she got did they give her options with treatment. Xx

    Hiya thanks for replying I'm so sorry that you're going through this... My mum had bowel cancer had an operation last year to remove it but it had spread to her liver and stomach... They are giving her chemotherapy and might offer radiotherapy but depends on how close the tumor is to her bowel.... I know it's not fair is it every one should be offered the same treatment money or not.... If you do need anyone to chat to I'm here if you ever need anything...     Thanks for replying, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. You can look for trials as well I need options if the immunotherapy doesn't work.so that means a very long email to her consultant tomorrow. If you want to chat I'm here too. I've got my fingers crossed for your mum. Xx
