Hello,
New here after finding myself trying to support and care for my mum after her lung cancer diagnosis last week. I'm going to post separately about that. My reason for this particular post is that mum, whilst heading towards a biopsy this Saturday to understand type and stage, nevertheless appears to currently be on a rapid decline in only a few weeks. I'm working with her clinic to make sure she's getting the best pain management but I'm concerned about the ongoing level of support she will need with various appointments and potential care. I'm in my notice period presently and my current employer are being really supportive as they know I'm good at my job and will get what I need to do, done.
My concern is a new employer and caring for mum whilst I'm in my probation period. I'm an only child and mums only direct family support after we lost my dad to pancreatic cancer. I guess my question is does anyone know if I have any form of protection whilst I try to juggle my new role and caring for / supporting mum the best I can? I'm yet to speak to my new employer as I guess I need to understand what the next month brings regarding complete diagnosis and treatment plan, but any info any one has in the meantime would be appreciated so I can try to park this as one of many worries presently causing me sleepless nights. Thanks
