I'm sorry to hear your friend's cancer and returned and about the prognosis that has been given. This must be a very difficult time for you both,

Unfortunately I can't say why this might be, but our team of cancer nurses may be able to help, so if you'd like to get their thoughts on this do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to answer your questions about this.

I'm not sure from your post if your friend has asked why treatment isn't an option but if they haven't, do try and encourage them to ask their doctor about this, so they can understand why. They may be able to ask for a second opinion from a different doctor as well, but this would have to be their decision as to whether they want to go ahead with this or not.

A lot of our members have been in a similar situation with their friends and loved ones so they will definitely understand how you are feeling at the moment and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and share their experiences and advice.
