Karposi sarcoma

family member has diagnosis of karposi sarcoma. And they are struggling to come to terms with it. I am very worried about their mental well-being and am very concerned that they will take their own life. I really don’t know what to do.

  • Hi Flossie13,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your family member - it sounds like you are both dealing with a lot and I'm sure this must be incredibly difficult.

Firstly, if ever you feel particularly concerned about your family member, you or they can always call Samaritans, 24/7, on freephone 116 123, for someone to speak to.

I'm not sure of the details of your situation, but we have a section on our website about mental health and cancer - there may be some information there that can be helpful for you both (there is also information on there about mental health when caring for someone with cancer).

It is understandable that you are struggling with this too, as these situations are always difficult not only for the individual but for those around them. Keep looking after yourself as much as possible, by speaking to others around you and by seeking help where you feel it would be useful. In this regard, I hope that this forum can be of some support to you, in terms of writing things down and reaching out to others who understand.

You can always browse or search the forum (using the bar at the top of the page) for other relevant discussions and people to connect with, if you would like to.

Do keep in touch, and we are always here for support if ever you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
