Hiya Teresa72, so sorry that you and your family are going through this.  Just by being there you are supporting your husband.  Your husband is feeling feeling a whole range of emotions right now.  Tell him that if there is anything that he wants to talk about, you are there to listen.  On the other hand, he may not want to talk about it at all.  Everyone reacts differently in a situation like this.  Ask him if there is anything you can do to help him.  As for how long your father-in-law has got, that really is a tough one to answer.  You say that he is in the final stages of this disease, and he has Hypercalcemia.  I would be looking at the possibility that he has weeks rather than months, but as I say, you really never can tell.  I wish you all the best, xx

my dad has stage 4 lung cancer and now diagnosed with hypercalcemia.
