Husband has no appetite, no strength and is so tired. What can I do to help him?

My husband has had prostate cancer for 11 years.  He now has chronic leukaemia, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and now the start of Alzheimer’s.  He just doesn’t want to eat and I’ve tried everything including fortified drinks.  At my wits end.  He has no strength and so tired, what can I do?

  • Hello DexterR

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's health and all that you are juggling at the moment. It sounds like it's been a difficult time and I can understand that you may be feeling frustrated with things.

Have you spoken with your husband's GP about his lack of appetite? Even if you have then I'd really encourage you to talk to them about your concerns so that they can arrange any appropriate support as there could be any number of reasons that your husband is struggling at the moment.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
