Husbands Dilemma

HI

My husband of 34 years is booked in for a cystoscopy on monday for possible bladder cancer, we are both extremely worried and havent mentioned this to anyone else even our two grown children. How can you stop the panic , i find myself trying keep extremely busy to not think about it, i am thinking of all the negative thoughts, he also has a silly cough so i am worried it has spread to his lungs.

I know i am going to have to stay positive for him but it is so hard especially as my younger sister was diagnosed with Lung/Bone cancer two years ago.

  • Hello Jane

I'm sorry to hear that your husband has had some health concerns recently that have meant he's now waiting for a cystoscopy on Monday. It's perfectly understandable that you're feeling anxious, particularly as you've already had the experience of a loved one being diagnosed with cancer.

We know that for many people this period of waiting for tests and results can be really difficult. and, naturally, our minds can wander to a worst-case scenario. Trying to keep busy can help. You might find it useful to read this thread about how to cope with waiting for news

Whatever the news is on Monday, worrying won't change that. It will however leave you both feeling more stressed and out of sorts over the weekend. So try to stay positive and hopefully the team will be able to give you both some reassurance about things in just a few days.

Keep in touch Jane and let us know how the appointment goes.

    Best wishes,
