Grade 3 Breast Cancer

Hello everyone this is my first post and I would like to just share my feelings and thoughts. I have autism so please bear with my grammar and how I express myself :)

My partner of 20 years has just recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and she has had a mastectomy 2 weeks ago. It was results today and instead of full expecting news of chemo and next steps the consultant has told us that they have found an aggressive cancer in 5 of her nodes. We now have to wait for a ct scan to find where and if it has spread. She is pre menopausal and 47. If anyone has any experience or can tell me what more to expect I would be really grateful. :)

My autism means I’m finding it hard to ask questions and understand how to interpret what everyone is saying so I thought sharing my feeling this way would help.

Thanks

    welcome

I’m sorry to hear that the nodes were positive for cancer , on some occasions they do another operation removing the other lymph nodes underarm this is a straightforward operation I had this as a second operation.

you are in safe hands your team will look after you

    Good luck love Lara x

  • Hi Lara thank you so much for replying to me and taking the time it’s so appreciated and hopefully fingers crossed the cancer is contained in nodes and not spread anywhere else.
Thanks again I feel so much better after your response. X

  • Hi  i was/am in a similar position, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, stage 2, had a DIEP mastectomy/reconstruction and while they were there took 4 lymph nodes out. 3 were positive so I had to have a CT scan to see if it had spread. What a horrible wait. Fortunately it hadn't, but I now start chemo on 15 Apr and after that they take the rest of the nodes out and I then have radio. Best of luck to you and your partner x

  • Hi thank you for your reply … the waiting is the most awful isn’t it ? What a relief for you that it hadn’t spread and you can start chemo. It’s making me feel better that we aren’t alone in this situation and others have similar experiences. At the minute it feels everything is on a 2 week loop for test then results :(  Good luck with your chemo and radio X
