Oesophagual cancer

My dad aged 85 has been diagnosed with oesophagual cancer. All we have been told after nearly 4 weeks in hospital is that it is malignant cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes.

He is currently waiting for a second attempt to put a stent in as he is unable to swallow anything.

No one from oncology has spoken to us. What should I be asking?

  • Welcome to our forum, Guny.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis. It sounds like you've been through a lot already, and it's completely understandable that you have questions and concerns about what's next.

When you do get a chance to talk to the oncology team you might want to ask the team for more details about your dad's diagnosis, like what stage the cancer is at and what it means that it's spread to his lymph nodes. Also it might be worth to ask about what are the treatment options available for him. These are a few suggestions but I hope some of our members will be here shortly to offer you more.

In the meantime stay strong, Guny.

With best wishes to you and your dad,
