How to help

What is the best way to help my friend who was diagnosed with lymphoma. He's always telling me she's in pain and I feel very helpless.

Sometimes his symptoms will be so bad but he's terrified of going to A & E incase they decide to admit him. I'm not sure how to deal with this. I respect his choices and would never force him - but I worry him not going is making him worse by delaying treating the issue.

  • Hi Tcma and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's lymphoma diagnosis and the amount of pain they have been in.

This must be a very difficult situation to be in but if your friend is in pain, then seeing their medical team and/or GP would be recommended as they can check your friend over to make sure they are ok and provide them with something to make the pain and other symptoms they've been experiencing much more manageable.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon, but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

You may also be able to get further information and advice from the charity Lymphoma Action.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
