Diagnosed with lung cancer whilst living in uk

My father in law is Romanian but lives and works in the uk to support the rest of his family in Romania. He has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer but still waiting to find out what stage. PET test results have come back to say they suspect cancer is in pelvis too. He is waiting for more tests.  He wants to spend his final days in Romania but have any treatment over here. At what point should he travel back to Romania? Once he start chemotherapy will he be able to travel back home?
Thank you

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Ursachi although I'm sorry to hear about your father in law.

Unfortunately these are questions I can't answer but our team of cancer nurses may be able to help. If you'd like to discuss your father in law's situation with them, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

If your father in law hasn't done so already, it would be best for him, or you if you have his permission, to sit down with his medical team and ask them about this, and anything else that is on your minds, as they are in the best position to give you the answers you are seeking at this time.

    Kind regards,
