Mum is Starting Chemo next week

So my Mum got diagnosed with Tubular/Ovarian cancer at the start of the month and she is starting Chemo next week.

As I'm going to be caring for her, I've already been working on the house to get it in the best state for her (despite her depression causing her to actively try to stop and/or hinder any progress).
I'm just wondering if there is any stuff that people recommend I pick up for her and the house to make things as safe and easy for her during the journey.

  • Hello 90sVintage,

I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to our forum. I hope that your mum's first chemotherapy session goes well next week. There is in-depth information on our website on chemotherapy which I hope will help your mum prepare ahead of her first appointment. We also have a section on chemotherapy for ovarian cancer which might be of interest to you.

It's very nice of you to be caring for her and to be working on making the house as cosy for her as possible. I am sure our members who have been through chemotherapy before will have some great tips to share with you based on their personal experiences. If she is into reading, it might be a good idea for her to have a good book or Kindle if her treatment takes a bit of time to pass the time.

Feel free also to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. They will be happy to offer suggestions too and answer any questions you might have.

I hope all goes well for your mum on Monday - she is very lucky to have your love and support during this difficult time.

    Best wishes,
