My husband going through more chemotherapy

My husband is going through more chemotherapy he has had bone cancer for 30 years, 22 years ago he had a donor bone marrow transplant he was clear for 15 years, but the last 6 years he has been on and off different chemotherapy, its very difficult and no matter how many times we have gone down this road it never is any easier, i thought i would join this chat forum, because we have minum support,  its hard for some people especially our family members to understand what we are both going through, especially as my husband has had this disease for such a long time and family members have never sat day after day and watch what he goes through after his chemotherapy, he never complains he just gets on with it, but i reallly do feel unsupported by the our family members to them its the normal same scenario, but for me it feels like every time he starts chemotherapy its like the first time.

  • So sorry to hear what you are going through, and to hear you’ve been going through it for such a long time. I think unless you have been through it it’s hard for people to understand just how hard and lonely it can be.

I’m new to this, my partner was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer in October. He had surgery in November to get rid of it but unfortunately it has spread to one of the lymph nodes so he has just started chemotherapy 3 days ago and I’m already struggling with it all. It’s hard to watch him go through some of the side effects and not be able to take them away. Luckily he isn’t suffering too much just can’t have anything cold touch him and he has pins and needles in the arm the IV went into. He’s one tablets now for 2 weeks and then a one week break, then 3 more cycles. I just keep reminding myself how lucky we are that he has a good chance of a full recovery.

I’ve definitely found speaking to people on here helps. If you ever need a chat please feel free to message me xx
