HCC ASCITES MANAGEMENT

My mother had heptitis c diagonosed in 2001, howerver had been trated and rechecked every other year as negative, but unfortunately in 2023 she had some discomort in her abdomen and diagonosed with liver cirohsis and Hepta cellular carcinoma which have been metsized to lymph nodes etc. She had filled out abdominal water which i have removed last week. Doctors are telling me no treatment available and just take her home and make her comfortable. i dont want to losse her and appreciate if there is any treatment around the world for such cases. she is 68 and diabatic too. if no treatment, than is there any ways i can make her comfortable at home and extend her time with me.

  • Hello shahzad_226,

I am so sorry to hear about your mum and that doctors have told you there is no treatment available. I hope that she can be made comfortable at home and that she will be enjoying Christmas surrounded by those she loves. I thought I would share with you the information we have on our website for Family, Friends and Caregivers which includes a section on how to support someone with cancer.  Practical and emotional support is also available and you can find out more about support at home for you and your family - do reach out for resources around you which might provide assistance on a practical level. Do talk to your GP too about what help may be available in your area and about the best ways to help make her as comfortable at home as possible so that she can have the best palliative care and as much quality time with you as possible.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have also looked after a loved one with a similar diagnosis and that they will come and share their experience with you. We're thinking of you and your mum during this difficult time and I just wanted you to know you are not alone, that others here have been in a similar place before and will understand what you are currently going through.

    Best wishes,
