Chemotherapy

Hi

My brother has been diagnosed with cancer secondary liver, spine, lung and stomach cancer.

He was told by the nurse that if he turns up for his oncology appointment in a wheel chair and on oxygen he would not get Chemo.

Since leaving hospital he needs oxygen all the time and had difficulty walking because his in so much pain.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry to hear about your brother's diagnosis. It's naturally a worrying time for you all at the moment.

I'm unsure why the nurse gave you that information. I would presume that the decision about any potential treatment options to help manage your brother's diagnosis would be made on several different factors, including whether he is well enough to tolerate treatment.

Was your brother allocated a clinical nurse specialist that you can contact for some advice or clarification about what was said? If so then do give them a call.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Sending you both my best wishes,
