Partner with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer

Hi, I am new to this group. My partner was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August 22. We found out then it had also spread to his liver. He has had chemo treatment but due to extreme side effects has come off this and only had 9 treatments. At the moment he is having discomfort and shooting pains but is not too bad in himself.
I panic a lot and am on antidepressants due to my anxiety. I feel that after 9 months every day is a blessing as he only had a prognosis of 6 to 12 months. I can't stop thinking though every ache and pain he gets is going to end his life........I am very upbeat and optimistic with him though. I want to be able to talk through things with people who understand and have been going through this illness.

  • Hi LinHal,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your partner, I can certainly imagine this is a lot to deal with. I'm glad you've found the forum is it is exactly what we're here for - a safe space to write things down and to connect with others who understand.

My reply here will boost your post, meaning a few more people should see it, and so hopefully you'll get some more replies soon.

Hopefully you have others around you for support too. You can always reach out to Macmillan or have a look at Maggie's - particularly if they have a local centre near you - if you'd like any specialist support or as other ways to connect with others in similar situations.

We're always here if you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
