about to have a breakdown

im 21 and my nana just got diagnosed with lung cancer and the doctors told us its really serious and she could potentially die due to how severe the cancer is. The doctor also said she is not strong enough to live with 1 lung. My nanna is in her 50s i think but not 100% sure. This has been hard for my mum whos 38 as now my mum has to help support her mum (my nana) as well as me. 3 months ago I got diagnosed with a brain tumour. Im trying to keep it together and not breakdown as i have to support my mum and nana as right now I feel like my tumour isnt important and I can deal with it later. Can anyone recommend any ways to help me cope cause I'm about to give up and drop out of college

  • Hi Sharpe,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

What a lot you are all having to deal with, especially at such a young age. It must be hard enough trying to cope with your own diagnosis. To have you and your nana both diagnosed in such a short space of time, seems so unfortunate.

Your tumour is very important. Please don't drop out of college just yet. Have you spoken to anyone about how you feel? It really does help to share the load. Sometimes it is easier to talk to a tranger than it is to talk to a loved one or friend. There ae many charities, which offer a free counselling service to those of us in this unenviable position. I used Maggie's. These are dotted all around the country.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
