Hi, I lost my mum to lung cancer a year ago and just found out my dad has bowel cancer. The mdt meeting was 2 days ago, does anybody know how long you have to wait for hospital to ring to discuss the treatment plan? He's very anxious

Welcome to the forum, molly80.
I'm sorry to hear about your difficult situation. It must be challenging to go through losing your mum to lung cancer and now having your dad diagnosed with bowel cancer.
The waiting time for the hospital to contact you and discuss the treatment plan can vary depending on several factors, including the hospital's workload and the urgency of your dad's case.
To address your dad's anxiety, it may be helpful to reach out to the hospital's oncology department and inquire about the expected timeframe for them to get in touch. They may be able to provide you with more specific information. In the meantime, it's important to offer emotional support to your dad and reassure him that the medical team is doing their best to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Hopefully, others with similar experiences will come along shortly to offer advice. That being said, if you feel like asking some questions to our team of nurses, they'd be happy to talk things over with you Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.
Please take care, and I sincerely hope your dad receives the necessary medical attention and treatment soon.
Best wishes to you both,

Hi thank you for replying to me, we have heard from hospital now, he's seeing the surgeon on Tuesday and a colorectal nurse the following day so me should k ow more then.

Hi Molly l would write a list before the appointment of what, when and how long before treatment ect. We get into see consultants and forget to ask them everything we need to know. Do go with your Dad as a second pair of ears will hear different things , the clinic won't mind you being there. Dad could do with the company.
Do try to relax over the next couple of days sending huge hugs
