Good days and bad days

My dad was diagnosed with a fast growing brain tumour (they haven't told me the name of it yet). He's been in hospital all week. They've told me he won't be allowed home coz his care needs are too great and likely after Tuesday move him to a hospice to live out the end of his days in a more comfortable environment. Every day, he alternates between a good day and a bad day. It's so upsetting to see. It's so confusing. Is this normal?

  • Once you know the name of it you can then begin to gather information from either those who are caring for him or from Nurses on here or people who have dealt with it themselves at least then you will begin to understand what it entails and what you will be facing ,I feel for you I hope things get smoothed out for all concerned asap .

    Hi Fabricofsociety,

A very warm welcome to our forum, although I'm so sorry to hear why you are here. I am not a doctor, but in my experience of brain tumours and cancer in general, with family and friends, this is fairly normal.

I hope that you manage to get a diagnosis soon and get to know a little more about his condition. It is indeed heartbreaking to watch a loved one suffering like this and to find that you cannot do anything to improve matters for him.

I am thinking of you and am always here for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how your dad is getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
