Welcome to Cancer Chat, Falcons.
I'm sorry to hear about your situation, it must be hard to conciliate your full-time work and your parent's needs so I'm glad you found us and decided to join.
We know of a few pages that might be able to help in such a difficult time and I wanted to share them with you. Citizens Advice has a sub-page that covers benefits you could get, turn2us also has information on benefits. I hope these can be of some use.
Best wishes to you and your family,

Hi Falcons,
When my Mum had her strokes there was some rehab help available for her - physios sent to her house for a few sessions after she left hospital. That didn't help day-to-day though, which is what's needed here. I'm assuming your Dad will want to be her carer but physically unable to.
Go to your local council's website and search for their Adult Social Care. A lot of them have run out of capacity these days but it's very much worth trying. First thing that should happen is someone visiting for an assessment, then an emergency team from the NHS to act as carers, and finally a permanent team of carers from social services. They can also supply a range of equipment that might be needed in the house. That should take care of your parents basic needs for getting out of bed, dressed, fed, keeping the house fairly clean and safe, etc. That's what happened with my Mum, anyway. It's means tested so your parents might have to pay, but disability allowance and the reduction in council tax take a big bite out of that.
kind regards
Steve
Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Contact adult social care for the local authority where they live. I did this for my Mum and within 2 days we had a care package set up. I've had a community alarm fitted and she wears a wrist band that she can press.
Hope you get some support.
