Significant changes on MRI scan

Hi all,

My dad was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and received chemotherapy for this and was in remission. He then a while after was diagnosed with Prostate cancer and received radiotherapy and was also in remission. A few weeks ago he was sent for an 'urgent MRI' to which it was only reported on yesterday. He got the phonecall to say that his PSA blood levels were good at 2.9 but there were 'significant changes' on his MRI. We are from NI and they advised travelling to England for a £3,000 scan excluding flights and accomodation. As a family i feel we were left high and dry yesterday with not much clarification. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? We intend to phone GP today to get some more clarification on his diagnosis, is the cancer back? what happens now? is treatment available etc.

Thank you

V

I'm sorry to hear that your Dad has had some significant changes noted on his most recent MRI. It's understandable that you wanted clarification and more information about the situation. I hope that the GP was able to give you some answers and support when you spoke with them yesterday.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can.

Do keep in touch and let us know how things progress.

    Best wishes,
