Mom with metastatic cancer

Mom (79) had breast cancer in 2018 which was treated and she made a good recovery. Sadly less than 3 weeks ago we were informed it had returned and mestastised to her stomach, lungs, liver and bones. Understandably we were told no treatment could be given. She is at home with us as she wanted to be. We have good support from the GP and District Nurses. Mom has not been able to eat anything since before her diagnosis and now can only manage the tiniest of sips of water. She has dropped to five and a half stone and looks wretched bless her. How she is surviving is beyond comprehension. Its the first day it's really affected me properly. Just after some advice and thoughts how I deal with our situation. Trying to stay strong and support dad too. Love and thoughts to everyone going through tricky times. X

  • Hello VChambo,

I'm sorry to hear about your mum, but it's good hear that she is a where she is comfortable and that you have good support. There is information and advice on diet here, which I hope will be useful. Do speak to the GP and district nurses for further advice. If you'd like to speak to one of our cancer nurses, you are welcome to. You can call them on the freephone 0808 800 4040. Lines are open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

    Best wishes,
