Post op pain from mouth cancer treatment. Anyone else?

I have a my cousin who had mouth cancer and he has undergone surgery where the jaw bone was removed and replaced with another bone. He has done his rounds of chemo and radiation therapy.

However the post op pain for him has been excruciatingly unbearable.he's is on morphine but that isn't helping either.... barely sleeping, and life has become a struggle but pain has become the new norm. is there anyone else out there that is experiencing or knows of anyone that is experiencing this kinda of pain.

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Artisparti although I'm sorry to hear about the pain your cousin has been experiencing since they had their operation.

I can't begin to imagine how difficult, both physically and emotionally, this must be for them but I really do hope that with the help of their GP and/or cancer team they're able to find the right medication to help with the pain.

Hopefully some of our members who have contended with something similar will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon but if you would like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very supportive, and will do all they can to help.

    Kind regards,
