    Hi Onos,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's difficulty with eating. It is always hard to try and find something that is tasty and easy to swallow. Do you make your own soups - these should be more nutritious than bought ones? Have you tried adding a little mashed turnip to his potato, just for a change? Lightly scrambled egg is also easy to digest. Don't cook it too quickly. Add a  tablespoon of milk to whished eggs and heat very slowly in a saucepan, but make sure that you stir it all of the time. If you don't do this, it becomes very dry & rubbery and difficult to swallow. The trick is to take it off the heat just before it is beginning to set. Have you tried any of the build up puddings, which you can also get on prescription?

The main thing is to ensure that he drinks and doesn't become dehydrated.

I can understand your difficulty with your own diet too. Being a Diabetic you really need to eat a well controlled diet too. Can you speak to your husband's care team or GP and ask to see a Dietician? They should be able to suggest other foods which would be palatable, as well as giving you some suggestions for yourself. You might find a liquidiser useful for making soups, as well as liquidizing some food for him, but please ask to see a Dietician as soon as possible.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
