Myeloma - considering treatment?

My mum was diagnosed with Myeloma in March 2020 she now has to consider treatment for her multiple myeloma as her blood tests are showing increased calcium and paraprotein - she has also been diagnosed with melanoma on her face this summer and currently awaiting results of a 2nd biopsy and skin graft. During the scans they also found a menginoma brain tumour. She has had a minor stroke in Sep 21  - knee fracture few months ago. A challenging time which I am really struggling to keep up with all the various consultants appointment as well as mum's increased confusion and decreased mobility - the stoke also left her incontinent. She complains regularly of being very dizzy, sore heads and weakness in her legs. I watched my dad die from a long painful death from terminal prostate cancer and am finding this very difficult.

  • Hi Scozzie,

I just came across your post and read everything your mum has been through. It sounds like it's been very difficult for you both but I hope it helps to know that we are here for you and hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

You can find out more about the treatment options available for myeloma on our website but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so next week, from Wednesday onwards, on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We're thinking of you Scozzie and sending all our strength and support your way at this very challenging time.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
