My mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016 at the age of 52. She had an operation to remove the mass and didn't require chemo as she had 68 lymph nodes removed and nil cancer was seen in them. A couple of years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer which was found during a routine mammogram, again this was isolated and didn't require any treatment other than an operation to remove. Following on from her bowel pathway she had her annual bloods which showed her CEA was raised to 5 from previously being 1 or 2. She had a colonoscopy which showed her bowel was normal and nil seen apart from diverticulitis. She was given a ct scan due to the rise of the cea and they have found something in or on her liver. Could this be a secondary 6 years down the line or are we thinking a new primary!? She is having a PET scan arranged. The cns nurse of course can't be specific and reluctant to give any news but the wait is making me so ill. I feel like she's just given up. Just want some advise or experience from anyone who may have been through something similar please xx
